Not just your outfit, not just your makeup; everyone will be talking about this unique jewelry you will be adorning. Yes it’s the new buzz all around! Jewelry made from flowers, how else you can put more charm into your feminine side.
Gone are the days when flowers were used to be worn only in long hair as gajra, used for wedding décors for centerpieces or used to decorate the venue. As a bride to be you would always be on the lookout for something different from everyone else, something that everyone talks about after your wedding or maybe even want to imitate it for theirs.
To start off, it’s really not a new fad but actually goes back to the ages of goddesses and mythological characters like Shakuntala, Menaka, Mohini who used to adorn themselves with such floral ornaments.
Soon you could see our Indian celebrities like VidyaBalan, AishwaryaRai, EshaDoel and many TV actors with minimum makeup and floral jewelry on their mehndi, haldi or sangeet functions. It naturally added to the feminine charm of women and if you are one of those girls who really doesn’t bothers much about the glitz and glitter ,this type of jewelry is perfect for you.
How do you carry such jewelry? What type of outfit it would go with? What types of flowers should be used? How long would the flowers last? Ladies I have got you covered here!
Ear rings, maangtika, neck pieces, haathphool, anklet, waist belt; you name it and you can get an array of styles. Now coming to the type of flowers you can use, it will depend on two things - the color of your outfit and of course the season in which you are getting married in. Few flowers are available throughout the year like roses, others can be imported. Roses, jasmine, carnations, mogra, and at times even rajnigandhaare the most commonly used flowers.
Generally they say that the color of the flowers you chose should be in contrast to the dress that you would wear. For example you can pop a dark pink color jewelry with your navy blue outfit as worn by this pretty to be bride on her mehndi.
I know that what I said above is the easy part; the burning question is still there. You would definitely want the flowers to last long. We have two options here – use either fresh flowers or dried flowers. Fresh flowers should be used the same day you get them, you can pre-order these flowers (I will tell you later where you can get them ordered). You can refrigerate them and they can last upto three days. And if you are still skeptical of this then you can opt for dried flower jewelry which can be preserved over time.
You can also combine the flowers with crystals, pearls, beads, kundan, gold, silver to add little oomph to your overall look.
It’s surprising that this trend has been there for long and still people are unable to find the vendors. There are few local florists in Defence Colony & RK Puram (Delhi) who would happily make this for you and that too at very reasonable rates. You can even drop by at GK M Block market for more professional people. And for those who do not live in Delhi Ferns & Petals can even arrange to deliver it to you on special request.
